Psychologist & Clinical Sexologist
Two Disciplines. One Integrated Approach.
Dr. Carrie Jacobs holds dual credentials as a licensed Psychologist and a Certified Clinical Sexologist — a rare combination that allows her to address the full spectrum of mental, emotional, and sexual health.
As a licensed Psychologist (Psy.D.), Dr. Jacobs is trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, and personality disorders. Her doctoral training at Ryokan College and postdoctoral fellowship with the State of Nevada gave her a deep foundation in evidence-based clinical practice.
As a Certified Clinical Sexologist (CCS) and Certified Sex Therapist (CST), she brings specialized expertise in human sexuality — including sexual dysfunction, intimacy issues, desire discrepancies, gender identity, and the emotional dimensions of sexual health. This training was completed at the International Institute for Clinical Sexology and certified by The American Board of Sexology.
What Is a Psychologist?
A psychologist holds a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in psychology and is licensed by the state to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions. Dr. Jacobs earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology and is licensed in California. She works with individuals, couples, and families on a full range of emotional and behavioral concerns.
What Is a Clinical Sexologist?
A Clinical Sexologist is a specialist trained in the science of human sexuality — including the psychological, physiological, and relational dimensions of sexual health. Dr. Jacobs is certified by The American Board of Sexology and has completed advanced training at the International Institute for Clinical Sexology. She helps clients navigate sexual concerns without shame or judgment.
Why Both Credentials Matter
Many therapists treat mental health. Many sexologists address sexual concerns. Dr. Jacobs does both — which means she can hold the whole person. Whether a client comes in for anxiety that affects intimacy, trauma that shapes sexuality, or relationship dynamics that touch both emotional and sexual wellbeing, she has the training to address it all in one safe, integrated space.
